Hello everyone, and welcome to the first 2025 addition of my monthly (yeah, right) blog.
I'll start with some big news - as you can see from the image and headline, my next book, the sci-fi horror, What Doesn't Cure You, will be released on Amazon on 6th March. The story spans the width of the UK, from the south east of England to the Brecon Beacons, and then goes international and stretches out to the Galdhøpiggen mountain range in Norway. If you like your horror thrillers filled with alien creatures, weird science, fast-paced action and claustrophobic terror, then this one is for you.
The eBook version is already available for pre-order which you can access either directly through Amazon, or through the button on this web-site's home page. Additionally, if you would like to order a signed copy – which I can get to you by the release date – then head to the 'Signed Copies' tab on this website and fill in the form.
I'm really excited to get this one out there. It's a book I really loved writing, and having proof-read it almost a dozen times, I can honestly say I continued to enjoy it throughout. This time the cover was designed and created by the amazing Dan Gogerly (Insta handle @dangogerly), and he did a great job capturing the brief I gave him. If you're an author looking for a cover designer, I highly recommend him.
I've decided to go back to being an indie author for this release, and while my last publisher was really supportive, I've enjoyed taking hold of the reins again. I think the end result speaks for itself.
The Instagram book tour, supported by 11 book reviewers from across the UK and the US, runs from 6th March to the 12th March. The reviewers and schedule will be published on my socials in the next few days.
Additionally, I've confirmed all my appearance dates for this year. It's my busiest year yet with 14 shows across the country (admittedly, one of which has already happened because I'm a bit late in getting this blog issued. Doh!). If you're in any of these towns on any of these dates, please pop in and say hi. The show organisers – whether its UKCGF, Creed, HorrorCon, or Striking Events (shout out to all those guys) – always do a great job in putting on an event that has something for everyone; whether you like horror, fantasy, comics, graphic novels, gaming or Cosplay (or all of the above).
The dates are as follows:
Guildford Comic Con - 12 Jan
Torbay Comic Con - 16 Feb
Exeter Comic Con - 8-9 Mar
Bournemouth Comic Con - 23 Mar
Horrorfied Farnborough - 19-20 Apr
Maidstone Comic Con - 4 May
HorrorCon Sheffield - 17-18 May
Stroud Indie Book Fair - 28 Jun
Basildon Comic Con - 29 Jun
Milton Keynes Mega Con - 10 Aug
Peterborough Comic Con - 7 Sep
Ashford Comic Con - 4 Oct
Portsmouth Comic Con - 9 Nov
Tonbridge Comic Con - 7 Dec
I've also decided my next project will be the third and final instalment of the Raven series, which I'm really, REALLY excited about. I've finished re-reading the first two books to remind myself of where I left everything, and I'm now mid plotting phase. It's coming together really nicely with some cool twists and surprises, as well as plenty of dark, disturbing nastiness. This will be Luke Raven's last hurrah after all, and he deserves to go out in a blaze of gory (spelling variation intended). I hope I'll be able to get the book finished and out to you guys during this year. I've even started planning the box set deals (getting ahead of myself as ever).
There's been lots of reading going on since the last time I updated this blog: Holly by Stephen King (loved it), My Life in Dire Straits by John Illsley (really liked it), and The History of Heavy Metal by Andrew O'Neill (enjoyed it, even if it was a little niche). I've just started Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King because, unlike a lot of people I talk to, I really like his crime fiction. My next read will be Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward who I absolutely love. If you want to know what I've read and what I thought, you can read all my reviews on my Goodreads page ( Stacey Dighton (Author of The Faraway People) | Goodreads ).
Okay, so that's everything for this month. Keep up to date with what's happening on my socials, particularly my Insta ( Inbox • Direct ) or my Facebook page ( (7) Facebook ).
Otherwise, maybe I'll see you at one of the shows. In the meantime, take care and happy reading.
